About the project
Communicating research through empathy-driven messaging and visual storytelling
The Latina Girls Empowerment Program at Julia de Burgos School is a nurse-led mentorship initiative designed to help teen girls envision brighter futures and build the confidence to reach them. In collaboration with Jefferson Principal Investigator Dr. Shawana Moore, I led the concept and design of a research poster that spotlights the power of investing in young women—specifically through the lens of female nurse mentorship.
At the center of the design is a bold typographic phrase where three key words—teacher, empowher, leadher—are reimagined with a pronounced “H,” giving voice to the “her” within each. This simple yet powerful shift turns passive words into actions, reinforcing the program’s goal of amplifying self-esteem, self-awareness, and leadership in the next generation. Through this lens, the “H” doesn’t just stand out—it speaks volumes.
